A beauiful white pearlescent bone mandala
Each bone has been painted with a tiny brush in a gorgeous white pearlescent paint. The colours are hard to show on the photos but it's beautiful in person. I have used flash on some of the photos to try and show the shimmer of the bones.
This mandala has been created with real tiny mice, shrew & vole bones.
These pieces take a while to create as all the bones first need to be found in the right sizes, the mandala is then put together but not glued down to make sure they work with one another. The bones are then painted, left to dry and then the mandala is ready to be put back together a second time and finally all the bones can be glued down.
The artwork is mounted onto a matte black Fabriano card and displayed in a 12x12cm black shadowbox frame with a matte black border.
Made with real bones sourced ethically/naturally through wild owl pellets. The bones are dissected from the owl pellets and then they are cleaned and whitened. Then they are sorted through meticulously into my bone boxes ready to use for art.
My art process is long and tedious. Each bone has been individually selected and carefully put into place before glueing them down. Tweezers and a needle are used to carefully move the bones to make sure they work with one another and flow naturally.
