A brand new small bone mandala design
 
A lovely new mandala design created from real tiny mice, shrew and vole bones!
This piece features lots of pelvis bones in the centre followed by lots of tiny atlas vertebrae. It also features tiny bones and teeth.
 
The mandala has been mounted onto a matte black Fabriano card and is displayed in a black 12x12cm shadowbox frame with a black matte border.
 
All these artworks are created with real bones sourced ethically/naturally through wild owl pellets.  The owl pellets are dissected for the skulls and bones then the bones are cleaned and whitened over several days. I then go through the bones sorting them into different bone types using tweezers, then they go into my bone boxes ready to use for my artwork.
My art process is long and tedious. Each bone has been individually selected and carefully put into place before glueing them down. Tweezers and a needle are used to carefully move the bones to make sure they work with one another and flow naturally.
