Skull and bones arrangement 2026
 
A lovely skull and bones artwork created with a real vole skull and real tiny mice, shrew & vole bones!
Normally these designs are more complex with a lot more bones so I thought I would make a smaller more affordable piece.
The artwork has been mounted onto a matte black Fabriano card and is displayed in a black 12x12 cm shadowbox frame. 
 
All these artworks are created with real bones sourced ethically/naturally through wild owl pellets.  The owl pellets are dissected for the skulls and bones then the bones are cleaned and whitened over several days. I then go through the bones sorting them into different bone types using tweezers, then they go into my bone boxes ready to use for my artwork.
 
My art process is long and tedious. Each bone has been individually selected and carefully put into place before glueing them down. Tweezers and a needle are used to carefully move the bones to make sure they work with one another and flow naturally.
